What Happens at Our First Appointment?
We will go through the intake form together and talk about the type of issues that you are experiencing. I may ask you to complete other assessments so that I can better understand your current level of functioning. I may also ask you more about your background.
Next, I will do a neurofeedback assessment (full-cap QEEG - Qualitative Electroencephalograph). This will tell me about your current brain functioning. In order to get an accurate measure, it is important that you not use any drugs or alcohol within 24 hours of our appointment. This includes coffee or tea.
If the appointment is for your child, I will need a parent/guardian at the first meeting to get a thorough medical and personal history. Parents/guardians are not in the room during the assessment, but can stay in the waiting room area.
Once I receive the QEEG reports, I will email these to you and set up a time to debrief the findings. After all assessments are complete, I will write a report outlining the key findings of the assessments and QEEG, and indicate general and specific goals.
