Welcome to the BrainWave Centre
We are an independent centre focusing on optimal brain functioning for personal wellbeing.
We take a bio-psycho-social approach, integrating strategies for the body, brain, and mind. At BrainWave, we innovatively combine therapeutic counselling, with neurotherapy, and education to help you reach your goals! In addition to psychotherapy and neurotherapy, check out the educational opportunities such as webinars or mentoring!

Would you like to imprve your focus and memory? You don't have to live with a lack of focus or a poor memory. There are ways to improve these, but first we need to determine the cause of the problem. If you lack focus because of trauma, for example, we would address that first before beginning neurotherapy or teaching you new strategies. |
Are you struggling with anxiety or depression? Anxiety and dpression are the most common mental health illnesses. In America, almost 19 million people suffer from anxiety and approximately 18 million experience depression. There are ways to address these illnesses using neuromodulation and psychotherapy. |
Does your child have difficulties reading, writing, or doing arithmetic? Learning difficulties, or learning disorders, are an umbrella term for a wide variety of learning problems. A learning disorder is not a problem with intelligence or motivation. Children/youth with learning difficulties aren’t lazy or dumb; their brains are simply wired differently. This difference affects how they receive and process information. It is usually helpful for children and youth to understand how their brains are working, before beginning any type of treatment. |
Would you like to feel more centred and in control of your life? Being grounded is the ability to be completely aware and conscious during the present moment. However, if you are feeling “out-of-sorts”, consider learning some new strategies, or even getting a brain map, to better understand what might be going on in your brain and body that is leaving you feeling out of balance. |
“Making a genuine difference in a person’s life is what I love most, whether it be through therapy, education, or neuromodulation.”
— Dr. Kim Calder Stegemann is the founder of the BrainWave Centre, Professor Emerita at Thompson Rivers University, researcher, and author of numerous articles about education and neuroscience. |
