DR. KIM CALDER STEGEMANN, Ph.D., CCC, QEEG-D, BCN

Dr. Kim Calder Stegemann is an educator, therapist, author, and researcher. She has spent her professional career helping others to make positive changes in their lives and feel better about themselves. She does this through a wholistic approach; looking at brain activity, body functioning, external behaviour, social context, and a person’s emotional well-being.
“What I love most is making a genuine difference in people’s lives.”
Kim opened the BrainWave Centre for Education and Therapy in 2017 to help people who want to make a change in their lives - through education, therapy, or neuromodulation. She offers all of these options in her private practice.
Coming in the Fall of 2021, Kim is very excited to launch her course Mind, Brain, Education: An Introduction to Educational Neuroscience and it will be available completely online! Kim first introduced this course in 2016 to M.Ed. students at Thompson Rivers University. To date, various students and professionals have taken this course for university credit and continuing education certification.
“Neuroscience isn’t an exclusive club. Everyone should be able to access information on how their brain works. My goal is to be able to explain and share the information in ways that are understandable and useful for each person.”
For over two decades, Calder Stegemann taught at Thompson Rivers University and is an esteemed Professor Emerita. During her tenure at the University, Kim furthered her studies into counselling and neurotherapy because she felt there was a gap that needed to be bridged to understand the “whole picture” of a person. Her comprehensive approach makes her unique in what she can offer to her clients.

Testimonials
Therapy:
“We are all amazed at the both subtle and strong effects of the work that you are doing with our adult children.”
—CS
“I am so amazed at how much this treatment has helped me. I think it has had a more lasting effect on me than anything else I have done before.”
—CH
Neuroscience Courses:
** What I would like to say - it’s the most fantastic course I’ve ever taken before. I love the activities we’ve done in the classroom.
The Brain Break /body breaks part really is my favourite one.
The vivid classroom atmosphere really touched me a lot.
Thank you again Kim!
Carina
Children with ADHD are the kids that teachers and learning support teachers spend the most time with.
I enjoyed learning about how this affects the brain - still can’t believe that this is not a funded category.
As educators we are focused on finding and implementing strategies, not why this is happening in the first place.
This will be so great to share with teachers who think the these students are lazy - A new understanding / tolerance and a more positive outlook.
This course should be a required course!
Thank you,
Allison
As someone who has spent a lot of time doing online classes - I can tell you - this is a course I would absolutely LOVE to have taken and will definitely refer other people to do so. AA
